El Train: Left the station.
Firestorm (previously known as Hot Shot): Winter biking only.
Mt. Whits: A wrench who puts the hammer down.
Origin of Species: Original gansta of La Grande cycling. First spandex sighting ca. 1980. abbrev. Sp.
Power Jach: Produces power with his bike.
Pro Bono Ciclo: Latin for bicycle nut.
Rad Doc: Prescribes climbs for pain.
Radar: Enjoys speed violations for mountain biking, running, and swimming.
Timbertson: Crono tech nut.
Tyler: Potential manifested.
RIDING PARTNERS
Bratt: Old guys.
Brimmie: Rotating stock.
Chipmunk: Brain medicine.
DOT: Lunch break transportation.
LaBray: Category winners.
Sanduberst: MTB tri-aning.
Whieli: Bike shop residents. Note: Pronounced WEE-lye.
Whoe: Fireworks.
EVENTS
Anthony: Toughest road climb in Oregon.
Foothill: Pain-inducing road southeast of town.
Island Ave: Running the gauntlet with the freak show.
Morgan: Pain-inducing road southwest of town.
PJ: Wicked Fartlek training.
TERMS
Attack: Something an animal does, usually a dog.
Bad Driver: 1) Someone on a cell phone, 2) Someone with a dent in their car, 3) Almost everyone.
Chip Seal: Public works for “boulder tar.”
Fan: 1) Environmentally-altering green energy device along I-84, 2) someone who claps at a bike race.
Freeway: 1) Cove Hwy, 2) Elgin Hwy., 3) Union Hwy., 4) any straight road.
Highway (aka expressway): 1) Hunter Rd., 2) Mt. Glen Rd., 3) any road other than a city street.
Hunter: 1) A road, 2) A guy with binoculars sitting in a truck wearing camo.
Snow skip: Like chain skip, but from an iced cluster.
Truck Route: Anything paved or graveled.
Wind: 1) Hurricane, 2) tornado.
