I opened up my package from OBRA last week and was quite excited to find 619 as my road racing number. This is a perfect number because it is a natural ambigram. If I happen to make the common mistake of pinning on my number upside down, no worries. At last year’s Tour of Walla Walla I was in a state of minor panic right before start time when I realized my number was on upside down, then I realized number 101 reads the same regardless. Now that OBRA seems to be allowing racers to retain their numbers from year to year, I’m holding on to this one especially so I won’t repeat the mistake of pinning on a number from the wrong year.
